Hello again!
This was another pretty great, action packed week over here
in Taiwan. A few of the highlights would be our English party and general
conference. I think I'll start with the
English party.
Every Wednesday we will teach a free English class. On the
last week of the transfer we will have an English party. It is getting close to
Halloween so we decided on a Halloween theme. Hours of preparation went into
the planning, decorations, games and making sure all of the details were in
place. We had lots of fun games planned out, one of them was using toilet paper
to dress up like a mummy. Wednesday night came and the party started. As soon
as the opening prayer ended all of the kids sprinted over to the corner with
the toilet paper. they ripped open the package and started throwing it all
across the gym. It wasn't long before the entire party had turned into a full
fledged toilet paper war with everyone from ages 6-60 years old participating.
We did our best to try and settle everyone down, organize people into groups
and do all of the things that we had planned. After giving our best attempts
and not seeing any success we decided to give up. The next hour was full of
lots of people running around and toilet paper all over the place. The party
didn't go as we had planned at all but everyone seemed to really enjoy it. So
maybe for the next party we will just save our self all of the trouble of
planning a party and just buy a few more rolls of toilet paper.
at this point we still hadn't completely lost control of the
party
This weekend I had the opportunity to watch general
conference. Most of the members watched in the chapel and a few of us were able
to go into a different room and watch in English. During the first talk I
learned that I need to stop making things more complicated then they need to
be. I feel like for the remainder of conference the majority of the talks were
all focused on the basics of the gospel; Faith, Repentance and Prayer. I also
really liked the talk and invitation we were given to "ponderize" a
scripture every week. I'm starting today and I will probably be sharing some of
my scriptures and thoughts with all of you from now on. And I would also love
to here from all of you, what scriptures you have chosen for the week and the
things that you have learned :) Overall I really enjoyed this conference and I
was able to learn a lot of great things from it. By the end of those two days
there were three things that I decided I need to do 1)focus on the basics of
the gospel 2)ponderize a new scripture every week 3)Smile more.
Thank you all for all of the emails. I hope you all Have a
great week!
