At times a mission can be a bit of an emotional roller
coaster full of ups and downs but looking back on the week it is always so much
easier to remember all of the good parts. And this was a pretty good week.
Last Monday our district decided to go to an all you can eat
buffet that had all kinds of sea food and other things that i have never tried
before. I decided that I wanted to try all of the things i have never had
before. As I was eating my district kept on giving me funny looks but i wasn't
really sure why. when i got to the squid i asked the missionaries in my
district if there was a certain part of it you were suppose to eat and they all
responded with "I don't know, I've always been to scared to try any of
that". but they were all very impressed with my bravery for trying all of
this new food.
On Wednesday we decided to go to a park to find new people.
off in the distance we saw a huge flock of pigeons. We decided to go look and
see what could possibly attract so many pigeons and we found a few people with
a bag of seeds feeding the pigeons. We talked to the people a little and they
gave us a handful of seeds. Before I could do anything one of the birds landed
on my hand and started eating the seeds. and then another one came. and another
one. And then they all stared fighting over the food. At one point i think i
had four different pigeons on my arm all fighting to the death over a little
handful of seeds. It was pretty entertaining.
About a month ago we had a new student come to our English
class. When class was over I talked to him a little and asked if he would be
willing to learn little about Jesus Christ. A few days later I had my first
lesson with him and he accepted a baptismal goal. Last Saturday he was able to
hit his goal, stepping into the waters of baptism. He truly is a prepared soul,
all we had to do was point him in the right direction and he walked right into
the font all by himself.
I am so grateful for this opportunity I have to be serving
in Taiwan as a representative of Jesus Christ. There is nothing better than
watching someone change for the better as they learn to live the principals of
the gospel.
Thank you for all being great people. I hope you have a
fantastic week!
我愛你們!
