Hello Everyone!

This has been another pretty great week full of missionary work. Last week we were biking past a building when my companion decided we should stop and talk to the people inside. We found out it was some kind of retirement home and them my companion told them that next week we wanted to come by and play music for them. My companion has a violin he was going to play but I don't have a guitar or anything so I figured I would just watch most of the time and maybe we would sing a few hymns together. Before going we were able to recruit a family to
come with us and help sing a few hymns. when we showed up on Saturday they had a guitar with them. They knew I played a little and brought it so I could play some hymns. But I don't know any hymns. So then someone gave my a children hymn book which has guitar cords with the music and told me to just play a few of those. I have never played any of those songs and I haven't even played a guitar at all for a while but everyone insisted that I a play a few songs. So I played the guitar for the first time in months, preforming for a crowd of fifty senior citizens while I was sight reading music I have never seen before. It was a little rough. I saw more that a few of the people in the crowd laugh a little at times so maybe I wasn't able to give them the great musical performance they were all expecting but at least I was able to make a few of them smile :)

Anytime we go anywhere we will ride our bikes. Someone told me that the missionaries in Taiwan ride bikes more that almost any other missionaries. I don't know if that is true but we do ride our bikes a lot. Because we ride our bikes so often we will occasionally have a few problems with them. This Saturday my companions tire got a hole in it. So we had to stop for a while so he could take it off and put a patch on it. Then we got back on our bikes and went maybe ten yards when the chin fell off of my bike and got jammed in the wheel. So then we stopped and I took a few minutes to fix it. Then we got back on out bikes and went maybe twenty more yards down the road when suddenly the brakes on both of our bikes stopped working. so we pulled over again to fix the problem. We had a meeting at the church with the bishop soon and with all of these problems we were worried about showing up really late. so finally we were able to fix ll of the problems and rode over to the church as fast as we could. somehow we managed to get to the meeting on time but I think this P-day I might have to spend a little time fixing up my bike.

I am so glad that I have this chance to be in Taiwan and thank you so much for all of the emails, love and support
